Well another decent weeknd of fishing. The stripers are still hittin. Good fun action alot of catch and release due the size of them. Some are 12 inches and some are 14 inches but most of them are about 8 to 10 inches. If your looking for fun and alot of action. Then you can still catch the little guys. I rolled out of the sack around 6am, then hit the bait shop with a cup o' joe. And was so surprised by how many people were pulling into the parking lot....IT'S THURSDAY!!!!! What the hell, I thought after watching one friend after another head for the boat ramp. I thought, I was the only one that didn't have a job t… Continue

1st post on Saltwaterindex.com - 11/17 aboard my "JETTYWOLF" with Dr. Dick M.

11/17 - They're back....BIG time.

It always bothers me, when it's November and I'm not finding my Trout friends stacked up like cord wood, East of the boat ramp. Because this is "the time". And for numerous reasons to include gale force winds, high seas, winds from the East, lack of a decent tide. Are just some of the reasons why they seem to v… Continue

Barge In!!!

How do you get a 500+ ft barge on the beach? Simple, just try towing her at sea during a slow moving Noreaster off the Virginia coast. Hey we are used to noreasters here in the fall and winter months, but this was the slowest moving storm I've seen. We have a lot of trees down due to the 50mph winds and saturating 10" of rain. I took this picture off Sandbridge in Virginia Beach. The barge is loaded with hazardous chemicals, but they won't tell us what!

Recipe: Florida Keys Smoked Fish Dip using amberjack, kingfish or mackerel

Amberjack, kingfish and mackerel are plentiful on the reef right now. Catch 'em up and get smokin'!
A heavy-duty mixer or food processor makes it easier to break down the fish into a spread-like consistency, but elbow grease will work just as well.

The sweet flavors added by the roasted red pep… Continue

Fishing for greater amberjack open and thriving in the Florida Keys

Unexpectedly and without notice, the National Marine Fisheries Service has closed the greater amberjack fishery in Gulf of Mexico federal waters from October 24 through December 31, 2009. They claim an established annual recreational harvest quota has been met.

However, fishing for amberjack in AtlantiContinue

I really encourage some of you guys to come out next year for some of the Redfish Action events. I assure you if you come to just one event you will have a blast! Capt Lee goes way out of his way to make it a great time for everyone involved. Its completely different from the other redfish tournaments Ive fished as far as the way he treats his anglers and listens to them. Events… Continue
